Bio

Mr. Alex was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. When he was young he started breakdancing after watching his uncle and the music videos of the time. In high school he was an athelete, participating in football, wrestling, baseball and track. He went to college at Marquette University and earned a bachelor's degree in Theater and Dance. There he studied modern dance, jazz, African and hip hop. He choreographed for the University's dance shows and became in innovator using hip hop and visual media.

In 2008 Mr. Alex began teaching at the Fred Astaire Dance Studios in Milwaukee's Third Ward. With his professional dance partner, Kimberly Schneider, he is a regional Rhythm finalist and a Theatre Arts Champion. He was awarded the Top Enrollment teacher award in 2010 for the Wisconsin region, honoring his outstanding work with new students.

In teaching, Mr. Alex likes to break down the dances into simple steps to make learning easy, fun and approachable for anyone. Due to his athletic background, he drills his students in dance so they can do the material and retain it.

In dancing, Mr. Alex enjoys performing for an audience. His favorite part of ballroom dancing is telling the story of the dance.

When he is not dancing, Mr. Alex writes and records music, enjoys reading, playing football and relaxing with friends and family.
